In a previous blog on Tips for Managing Your LFL, I encouraged people to get their little free libraries into the spirit of holidays. This is an excellent way to encourage more people to visit your LFL, to keep your book collection fresh, and generally to involve your LFL in celebrating the holiday.
Today is Canada Day, and LFLs around the CRD are getting into the swing of things.
Our friends who run the Shorncliffe Road Little Free Library (Victoria’s 200th LFL) sent us the following message:
The Shorncliffe Road Little Free Library invites you to share Canada Day with a Canadian author. From June 27th till July 7th, all books in the library will be authored by Canadians. The collection includes both fiction and non-fiction as well as a few memoirs. New books will be added to the library daily.
When you are theming the books in your LFL, it sometimes helps to put up a sign, or some other indication that there’s a theme. While it’s fun to say put a pile of books from your favourite author out on their birthday and not tell anyone, letting people know helps them get into the spirit of the holiday.

This Canada Day I filled the Rutledge Park LFL with Canadian and BC non-fiction, and also hung up a couple of flags.
