What to expect at the AGM
After celebrating GVPN turning 10 and the proclamation of Placemaking Day in 2024, in 2025 we’ll be focussing on The Importance of Neighbourhoods (and Neighbours!) with practical placemaking ideas that you can bring to your own neighbourhood—simple yet powerful ways to create a more connected, vibrant community. We believe placemaking is about reciprocal exchange, where everyone benefits from sharing and co-creating ideas, and we’d love to have your involvement.
As part of our AGM, we are also looking for new Directors to join our Board. Several past directors have decided, after many years of service, to move on and open up the organization to fresh members and ideas and we’re eager to have new energy to guide the Greater Victoria Placemaking Network.
Why join the Board?
- Shape the Future: Influence the projects we support and help oversee meaningful placemaking activities.
- Work with the Network: We are a community of passionate individuals working together to make our neighbourhoods places of belonging.
- Flexible Commitment: The new Board will decide on regular meetings (usually 1-2 hours a month via Zoom or, weather permitting, in person).
- Build Your Resume: This is a great way to expand your network and boost your experience with community-driven work.
Interested in making a difference? Simply reply to me or reach out at info@victoriaplacemaking.ca and we’d be happy to add your name as a prospective nominee for Director.
