In the spirit of the flâneur (one who saunters around observing urban life), three local Instagram accounts share cool perspectives (and pics, of course) on place in Greater Victoria.
Masami Teramachi tells CHEK News she ‘has fallen love with Victoria’ and walks whenever she can. She has created a hand-drawn Fernwood neighbourhood map and her Walk with Masami Instagram account shares photos of quirky and interesting places around the city core.
Victoria urban blogger Thomas Guerrero grams images of interesting urban forms and shares them on his SidewalkingVic Instagram account. Fences, flowers, hydro poles or glass walled towers, you’ll find diverse creative city images on SidewalkingVic.
If your interests include public places and great books, check out BookedInVictoria for 820 (and counting) posts of good reads in charming places. With a cat photo or two included. You’ll recognize the Inner Harbour walkway and Pandora Street across from Swans Hotel, but how many of the other nooks and sitting spaces do you recognize?
What other Greater Victoria Instagrammers have you noticed taking a special interest in place? Photographers, architects, planners – there are many to follow.
