This Thursday, July 14, Victoria Council will vote on the new Government Street Vision and Concept Design. This is the result of ongoing public consultation, Indigenous and stakeholder outreach, and recent ‘Build Back’ pilot projects, including new seating, planters, and expanded pedestrian access along the street in the last couple of years.
The planned Government Street “Refresh” will expand those pedestrian-priority measures, placemaking and public realm designs, starting next year, and will include new plazas, more seating and placemaking interventions, along with other infrastructure upgrades.
We encourage you to write a short email message to City Council in favour of the more people-friendly and car-lite Government Street envisioned in this plan. Use this email address to send your message of support to: engage@victoria.ca
