It was a long grey-blue fence, the kind of blank, uniform surface that often gets tagged. And so it got tagged.
Then one spring day a group of street artists approached the owner with an offer. Could they create something a little more interesting on his fence, something that would also discourage tagging?
The owner agreed and when I passed the spray cans were in heavy use.
Here’s a look at the finished product.
So: one city corner that is brighter and more inviting. Created by a small scale, informal, bit of urban placemaking.
